This program allows the user to enter a 'mutation list' and then find the appropriate haplogroup.
There are now over 4,200 complete mitochondrial DNA sequences available
and the 'mutation lists ' for all these sequences are obtainable here.

Fetch a 'mutation list' by first choosing a database from the list below.
The chosen database will open in a separate browser window.

Now highlight, COPY (Ctrl-C) and PASTE (Ctrl-V) a 'mutation list' into the program.

For example:
The mutation list for sequence DQ200803 from 'Gonzalez's database is:

PASTE the 'mutation list' into the upper box and press ENTER.
In the '1st pass' the program removes the common mutations such as '315.C',
any newline characters and excess space characters.

Now, press MATCH.

As appropriate, choose 'with subgroups', and 'with list of extra mutations'.
Press MATCH again at any point.

The best match will generally be the haplogroup with a very high 'percentage',
and the shortest 'list of extra mutations'.

The above example matches well with the reference data for 'Haplogroup U8a'.

At any time you may use 'Choose haplogroup' and select a particular group.
This limits the program to just a single Haplogroup or subgroup.

Dis-Allowing macrohaplogroups can be useful.
For example, if you know a sequence is European, then dis-Allowing 'L' and 'M' is helpful.
